| The
company began in Windsor Heights, Iowa, hence the name
Windsor Windows & Doors. Windsor remained a regional
window company until 1987 when it was purchased by Woodgrain
Millwork of Fruitland, Idaho. Woodgrain Millwork is the
largest manufacturer in the U.S. of prefinished mouldings
and interior pine doors. It has operations in 17 plants
in 13 states and South America. Windsor is now one of
four Woodgrain divisions.
Woodgrain Millwork launched Windsor into the national
manufacturer of windows and doors that it is today. In
1992, Windsor took another step toward expansion with
the purchase of a window plant in Monroe, North Carolina.
The Iowa plant now serves customers west of the Ohio River
and the North Carolina plant serves customers in the eastern
and southeastern United States.
